Could a startup be your next employer in 2021?

What does the word Startup mean to you? The American web television drama series featuring the fabulous Martin Freeman and Ron Perlman comes to mind and I’d recommend it if you haven’t seen it – it’s a jolly good watch though not a template for running a startup!

The word “Startup” for me refers to the very spirit of a new, emerging business and anyone who wants to be an integral part of the culture of a business should consider working in one.

Startups are fast-paced, new, growing, ambitious, exciting, problem-solving, disruptive, agile…… and as the founder of a startup business, I wake up every day, excited by the challenges ahead of me. As I look back over 2020, it’s been an interesting year for employers and employees alike, and I hope what we’ve learned about the need for flexibility in the workplace will bring about lots of positive changes in 2021. Start-up businesses like Rubitek are great places to work – they tend to have a flat business structure which means employees get exposure to and have involvement in a much wider range of initiatives but more importantly, business owners like me (I’m a mum and step-mum to 5 children, wife, daughter, sister, friend, school governor, owner of a dog and 12 fish, author, mentor and speaker) also recognise that life outside work is vitally important too.
